Gardner Public Schools Emails Compromised – Residents Suffer Financial Losses
In a letter to the Gardner Public Schools Community, (click here), Superintendent Mark Pellegrino alerts the community to a recent phishing scam involving compromised staff email accounts. The letter acknowledges that some individuals suffered financial losses due to these fraudulent messages, prompting an FBI investigation that spans multiple districts. To address the vulnerability, the administration is prioritizing enhanced staff training to help employees better identify deceptive solicitations. Recipients are strictly advised to ignore any emails from school accounts that request money, personal data, or promote items for sale. Moving forward, the district emphasizes that official communication channels must be used exclusively for legitimate school business to prevent future security breaches. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity directly to the superintendent’s office to ensure collective safety.
