Summer Centennial Celebration for Facebook

The City of Gardner Summer Centennial Celebration was part of a series of events to celebrate Gardner’s 100 years as a City. Gardner while incorporated as a town in 1785, became a City in 1923. Gardner Magazine spoke with Theresa Thompson, Event Organizer, prior to the event. Listen to the interview with Theresa Thompson on any device. CLICK PLAY.

The event is utilizing the walking track at Mount Wachusett Community College as a unique staging area. It will be it easy for people to get to the event area. Parking will be in the back lots with a shuttle service from the back lots to the field area. A designated handicapped parking area close to the field will be available as well.

For those attending the event from outside of Gardner, it is recommended to take the Route 140, – Winchendon exit and then take Matthews Street towards the court house for easy access to the MWCC parking lots.

Family and Kid Zone Fun

EVERYTHING is FREE!

The Kid Zone will be located at the center of the track with large inflatables for fun, various activities such as face painting, a number of games including Corn Hole, and a Dunk Tank. Kids will also be able to explore a fire truck, ambulance, and a police car.

Note to Families: The entire Kid Zone is absolutely FREE. The 15 by 15 Moonwalk, the Inflatables, the 30 foot and 60 foot Obstacle Courses, the Crafts, the Face Painting, all the games. everything is absolutely FREE.

The Dunk Tank: There may be local notable people to dunk at the dunk tank.

And remember, this is all FREE, so bring every kid from everywhere!

Food Trucks

The Food Trucks

A variety of Food Trucks are expected. A limited amount of seating and tables will be provided. Some may want to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to set down in the field to also listen to the music.

On the list: Joey’s Cannolis, Simmy’s Polish Express, Minuteman Kettle Corn, and Sun Kim Bop. The Frosty Flyer will appear with FREE Ice Cream courtesy of Fidelity Bank

Plead the 5th Interview – Mike Culver

Mike Culver says he got his inspiration from his brother AK Cody. “We are a bunch of guys who just like to have fun. We’d like to get the crowd interacting….we’ll sing with them and dance with them and just have a great time….it’s all about people leaving the show and saying, wow, you know they had a great time.” In our interview, Mike describes the band’s journey and talks about each of the band members. “We’re all about getting up there to dance and have a great time.”

JBC DJ Services has been in business for 15 years and is excited to play anything from the 90’s all the way till today’s hits at the Summer Centennial Celebration. “And a lot of the time during parties, entertaining means dancing. So we try to play dancing music so people feel ready to groove and get down.” “We’re fun, energetic. I’ve got a good team behind me. Where we go all over New England.”
