Participants can purchase one of 300 available tickets for ten dollars, each corresponding to a specific number on a large grid. The grand prize of $1,000 is awarded to the individual whose number is chosen by a live chicken during the event on October 15. While the competition is a highlight of the Chili & Chowder Taste Off, winners do not need to be physically present and can watch the results via a Facebook livestream.
