Motorcyclist Sustains Serious Injuries in Collision with Bear
A 71-year old male Orange MA resident sustained serious injuries in a collision with a 160 pound bear while traveling on Route 122 in Petersham. The man was flown via Life Flight to U-Mass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. The bear was deceased at the scene.
Petersham Fire Department posted on September 13th: “Emergency crews responded today to a serious motorcycle vs. bear accident on New Salem Road near the New Salem town line (Route 122).The motorcyclist sustained injuries requiring air medical transport by UMass Memorial LifeFlight. Athol Fire Department transported the patient to the landing zone, where Life Flight-2 took over patient care and transported the patient by air to the UMASS trauma center.
