- Commonwealth Heroine: 99-year-old Carol Hillman, owner of New Salem Preserves & Heritage Cider, was named the sole Franklin County recipient of the 2026 Commonwealth Heroine Award.
Public Safety
- Fatal Crash: On July 10 at approximately 5:00 AM, a 26-year-old Athol resident died when his southbound Dodge truck crossed into the northbound lane and struck a utility pole near 100 Blackinton Road.
