Infrastructure and Grants
- Unpaved Roads Grant: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation awarded Barre $500,000 to upgrade local dirt roads. DPW Superintendent Timothy Batchelor outlined plans for full-depth reclamation and stabilization on Town Farm Road, as well as paving on Williamsville Road and lower Fruitland Road.
Governance and Public Safety
- Special Town Election: Held on July 28, the election addressed debt exclusion ballot questions and their estimated tax impacts.
- Software Transition: The town began migrating its financial infrastructure to the Vadar software system, moving away from the legacy Softright system.
- Cable Survey: Residents were invited to participate in a survey regarding the renewal of the town’s cable license with Charter Communications.
- Weather Alerts: Severe storms prompted Flash Flood Warnings for Barre and surrounding Worcester County areas in late July.
