Flash Flooding Causes Problems in North Central MA
Rain on the morning of August 3, 2026 has caused flash flooding in the Fitchburg – Leominster – Lunenburg area.
Notable areas included some sections of Route 2, the John Fitch Highway in Fitchburg, and Route 13 in Lunenburg.
Please exercise caution when traveling to these areas.
Mass Transportation posted at about 9am: “Merriam Avenue is closed at the Route 2 interchange due to flooding. Route 2 has also been reduced to one lane in each direction. Closures are expected to remain in place for the next hour.”
