Exciting 69 second Board of Assessors Meeting
There were no drum rolls. There was no orchestra. There was City Assessor Christine Kumar and Member Paulette Burns during the Gardner Board of Assessors meeting of March 24, 2026. Listen on any device, CLICK PLAY.
The session began in the early afternoon with a formal call to order and a confirmation that the meeting was being recorded by city staff. The two members present quickly moved to approve the minutes from their previous gathering held in February. Following this routine administrative task, the board voted to transition into a closed executive session to handle confidential matters. By invoking specific state laws, the members ensured they could discuss sensitive business privately without returning to a public forum. And that’s why it was a 70 second meeting and why it was so exciting.
(There will be no refunds for Gardner Magazine Publisher Werner Poegel’s odd sense of humor.)
