Dressed in pink, staff at Gardner City Hall stood at the steps of Gardner City Hall for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There will be an estimated 310,720 new U.S. cases of breast cancer in women in 2024. 42,250 will die from the disease. The best defense is to get regular screenings.

About 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. About 1 in 39 women will die from breast cancer. Breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death in women exceeded only by lung cancer. 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of the disease.
