An Update from Gardner Mayor Nicholson on City Hall Projects and Construction Updates
From Gardner Mayor Michael Nicholson: ” Beginning on Monday, September 21, 2026, crews will be returning to City Hall to complete the painting work on the front portico of the building. The timeline needed to complete this work will be weather dependent. The pillars have been completed, leaving only the pointed portion above them left for painting.
Additionally, crews are still working on the Perry Auditorium window replacement project. The Knowlton Street side of the building has been completed and crews are working to complete the Post Office side of the building.
Crews have also begun the work to install the new electrical transformer at City Hall, adjacent to the Knowlton Street Parking Lot.
Beginning on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the two employee lots in the Knowlton Street Parking lot will be closed as crews trench across the parking lot from the new transformer to the location of the 5 new electric vehicle chargers that are going to be installed within the next few weeks. During this time, City Hall Employee Parking and City Vehicle Fleet Parking will be temporarily reassigned to the edge of the Knowlton Street Parking Lot, along the retaining wall that is adjacent to Connors Street.
