Gardner MA Celebrates 100 Years as a City on January 1, 2023.
While Gardner was officially incorporated as a town in 1785 after receiving land grants from Ashburnham, Westminster, Templeton, and Winchendon, it was incorporated as a city in 1923
.
Due to its heritage of chair manufacturing, Gardner is known as the Chair City.
With a population of 21,287 at the 2020 census, Gardner MA is a City growing in population. It is also growing in infrastructure, business, and industry.
