Gardner Mayor Nicholson puts Storm Plan Into Action

The plan covers personnel, possible shelters, the parking ban, and other info.

DPW Crews are out pretreating the streets.
Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency contact has been made.
On-street parking ban from 8pm 1/25 to 7:30am 1/26
Additional Firefighters and Police Officers have been re-called on overtime shifts to be ready for any increased call volumes.
The City’s CERT Trailer and Sleeping Cot Trailer have been staged at Gardner Middle School. 2008 ice storm layout will be followed. If shelter is activated, school would be canceled for the day. Cafeteria at Middle School has been stocked with food.
If shelter is opened, Senior Center activates as resting center for National Grid Crews and first responders.
Perry Auditorium is currently being set up as a warming center.
Community Room at the Police Station set up as City’s Emergency Operations Center.
Decisions will be made after snow, ice, sleet, and rain have stopped falling so people are not driving in unsafe road conditions.
