Greater Gardner MA Chocolate Cake
What happened 20 years before Gardner began in 1785 which makes every year’s birthday even more special? It’s a day celebrated on January 27th every year. It’s National Chocolate Cake Day.
The story goes like this: In 1765, A doctor and a chocolate maker ground up cocoa beans and made a thick syrup which was poured into molds shaped like cakes. In 1886, American cooks began adding chocolate to cake batter. And interestingly, at about the time Gardner became a City one hundred years ago, the first boxed cake mix was created by a company called O. Duff and Sons. OK, after all that, just enjoy your cake.
