
To the Gardner School Committee and Gardner Educators, Administrators, and Staff: When you think about these things this summer in the middle of having the summer fun you deserve, I hope you say to yourselves, let’s do more of this next year. Let’s positively affect the lives of more students. Let’s show off the Gardner model for education. Because what you’re doing is nothing short of extraordinary.

I’m been observing you for a few years, watching you out of the corner of my eye and with closeup vision. And what I see is nothing short of extraordinary. And I thought it was time to tell you. Because you deserve to know.“
Poegel stated, “Let’s tackle the difficult subject of D.E.I. In the Gardner Public Schools, you have taken the DEI song and made it your own, molded it so it resulted in a better vision. In some parts of the country, DEI is used to dummy down the general populace of students so that others can feel better about themselves. I’m very impressed that in Gardner, you do it differently. From the youngest pupils to graduating seniors, you seem to have a process in place which identifies the specific learning needs of each individual. And because you do that, each individual is able to rise much higher towards their full potential. You’re not dummying down, you’re always lifting up. And that effort has been extraordinary in the Gardner Public Schools. That is why your reading scores are trending up. That is why you have so many high school graduates with college courses under their belt. You are setting these students up to be successful in life. You have created the modernized version of reading, writing, and arithmetic and you have nearly perfected it.”
