Winchendon MA Having Trouble with Government Including Town Manager and School Superintendent
Town Manager: The Town of Winchendon is seeking 5 residents for the Town Manager Search Committee to replace Justin Sultzbach who resigned earlier this month with a final day of July 7, 2023. Sultzbach has accepted the position of Town Administrator in Middleton MA after having signed a new 3 year contract with the Town of Winchendon just 2 months before his resignation. He has held the post only the past 2 years.
School Superintendent: Residents have expressed their dissatisfaction with how the Winchendon Public Schools are being run and the School Committee is reportedly considering its options, knowing that Thad King has been looking for another job, earlier this month interviewing for an interim superintendent’s post in Billerica.
Gardner Magazine posted a poll on the Facebook Group “The Winchendon Residents page” stating the following: “Taking a poll for GardnerMagazine.com. Should Winchendon Superintendent of Schools be removed for bad performance or praised for good performance?” Results include options added by other members: With 197 votes. Nonsense options added by other members included items such as barbecuing, Chinese restaurant, and raising hell, and complaining about Facebook. Importantly, we note that of those choosing to vote on the subject matter, 79% selected remove, 1% selected praise, and 15% selected insufficient info for proper vote. Clearly, the Winchendon School Superintendent is not popular in the community.
